Best Movies Kissing Scene! Looking at the differences between your Blu-ray format along with the DVD format, what type will win? The reigning champion or new contender?
To boost the comfort, 3 years ago using the start of the new format wars between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, it had not been easy to call who does be the clear winner. Now, three years later, Blu-Ray will be the clear winner, but what did it win exactly? With the economy being as bad as it's, the average consumer doesn't have enough money to splurge on an expensive setup for Blu-Ray. Consider the things you'll must get an experience above DVD-quality out of a Blu-Ray Disc: HDTV, Receiver, Speakers, HDMI connections, plus an expensive disc player. So if you're still on the fence, it's with justified reason, at this time, DVD continues to be reigning champion inside local Blockbuster. That being said, let's take phone merits of the DVD compared to those with the Blu-Ray Disc.
I still remember when we were on the fence about switching from VHS to DVD players, understanding that wasn't so very long ago. About a decade ago, VHS was finally supplanted from the DVD format since the standard for anything from movie-watching to movie-recording and file storage. This change was implemented quickly because while DVD players initially were expensive, it didn't take too much time for people to appreciate that it would have been a revolutionary alternation in quality. The DVD held a lot more information plus a far more loss-less way, instead of the magnetic VHS tape that could be erased on impulse.
Today, the DVD is still on top of its game. The way DVDs continue to be making their way in to the hands of customers is because of how cheap they may be. Consider that if I wished to rent a DVD movie for any single night and observe it, that single rental will surely cost me a dollar. For Blu-Ray, no such option exists, I would have to go to a nearby movie rental company, pay well over $4 to rent the movie for approximately 5 days.
The saturation of the DVD on the market today also helps significantly. Almost every house in America has seen or played a DVD in the course of the past year, and that's why, services like RedBox and Netflix are very useful and profitable.
But it's more than simply affordability. The common person perceives DVD quality being sufficiently good that they can wouldn't must waste money buying expensive equipment to play Blu-Ray or other formats. To an audiophile or people that crave their video in 1080p, such talk is blasphemy, however in the hands of your non-informed person, a $20 DVD player is far more effective than a $200 Blu-Ray player.
I'm a large proponent from the Blu-Ray format. Is it because with the high-bit-rate TrueHD multichannel in DTS? Is it because from the 1080p video which makes the images on the watch's screen come to life? Is it because from the amount of features and quality that could be crammed into a 50 Gb Disc? The answer is that it's all of the above. The Blu-Ray Disc can be a leap forward technologically, and something that was inconceivable about 5 years ago in the heyday in the DVD format.
Of course, the key barrier of admission to the Blu-Ray Disc 'party' may be the cost. Currently, somebody working minimum wage or perhaps a lower-end job can most assuredly afford a DVD player plus a $1 rental to experience a great family movie night, nevertheless they can't afford the setup required to watch movies in 1080p.
Another trouble with Blu-Ray is that it's still traditional thinking about a market that's increasingly bypassing into the digital realm. Microsoft earlier this year made a powerful statement about not being forced to install Blu-Ray players with their Xbox systems by giving 1080p streaming video over the Internet. How well this service works remains to be seen, along with the cost remains a bit too high, however, if it works, streaming video could easily supplant both the DVD and Blu-Ray formats.
With streaming video, such a long time as there is an Internet-enabled box underneath your TV, you have access to the content you desire over the Internet without notice, and hopefully for any monthly fee rather than an individual, per-movie cost. Even better, if you are the sort that doesn't mind getting their hands dirty, an HTPC can be an investment inside future of movie watching.
With an HTPC with an Internet enabled Wireless-N card, you'll send your video watching into new heights. A simple DVR program and a TV tuner will make sure that all this content that you already pay for via cable and satellite can easily be recorded and watched later. Furthermore, for individuals who have the know-how, the Internet is plagued by copies of high-resolution movies, even 1080p movies that, despite a good Internet connection will still only take 3-4 hours to download.
The harsh reality to the DVD along with the Blu-Ray format is the fact that physical discs seem to be on their way out. For those that have enough money to pay for their video, it would appear that streaming is a much more friendly solution which doesn't involve the use of a physical rental location whatsoever. Just sit down, pop open the bag of popcorn thus hitting play ' your movie should start for only a few seconds of buffering.
